The rule

Format

  • Every player from the Third Selection, plus the regulars from the old Japan U-20, chose a country to train in.
  • The five were France, Germany, England, Italy and Spain, each represented by its leading club.
  • Players trained with that club’s U-20 level squad and its master striker, using microinterpreters to talk to each other.
  • The master striker picked a team of eleven from the intake for a round robin.
  • Blue Lock TV broadcast the matches. Clubs watching made contract offers on individual players.
  • A bid could rise or fall between rounds depending on how a player performed.

Getting through

The 23 highest bids became the rebuilt Japan U-20 squad for the U-20 World Cup. The table decided nothing on its own: a player at the bottom club could go through and a player at the top could still be cut.
